Can a 870 DM be used without the magazine? Can the magazine be removed and shot like a normal 870?

Unfortunately the answer is no, the Remington 870 DM cannot be fired without a magazine, as it needs a magazine to feed ammunition. If you want to use it as a traditional 870, you will need a different version of the 870.
