I'm looking to swap out my 18" barrel on my 870 Tactical with a 26" barrel for trap.
Does anyone know if i can? I'm finding that the tactical has this limitation.

Sorry for the late response. The forum has been a little slow lately.
My question for you is this: Is your mag tube the single piece, 6-round tube? If the answer is NO, and you have a magazine extension giving you the extra 2 rounds, you can use virtually ANY other 870 barrel on your Tactical.
If your answer is YES, it becomes more difficult. There are only 3 or 4 OE barrels for that configuration and the ring is a couple inches further forward. ONLY those 3 or 4 OE barrels will fit without the installation of an adapter. Last time I checked (2.5 years ago?) Remington still had a few adapters in stock to ship. I cannot remember the price. Other option is to manufacture an adapter to install.
I left mine alone and purchased a second shotgun.
