Ejection Port Dimensions 870 Tactical

Hey guys,

Could someone please tell me the dimension of your ejection port length along the center line? Mine measures 2.97". This is for an 870 Tactical 18.5” barrel that reads 2 3/4” or 3”. I’d also like to know if your ejector spring is as far back as mine. If I’m standing over the Gun lining up my eye with the back edge of the ejection port I can’t see the main bend in the spring. Are yours like that?

all ejection ports are the same size. Your gun will be 2-3/4 and 3 inch.

They for sure are not all the same size. If a fired 2 3/4 inch shell barely clears on its way out a 3" fired shell probably won't come out at all. I have an 870DM and the ejection port is like 1" longer.

The 2-3/4 and 3.00 ports are the same size. The only difference is the ejector and barrel chamber depth.
As for the DM model i can not say, i don’t own one nor have I had the chance to take one apart.

Are you saying the ejector would be different from a 2 3/4 gun to a 3” gun?

Yes, it is set rearward a 1/4 inch. That is why a 3 inch shell will not eject from a 2-3/4 only gun, even with a 3 inch barrel mounted.

So this ejector should be set up for 3” shells to eject yet 2 3/4 shells barely clear.....

I have never had any problems with 2-3/4 shells “barely clearing”. All have ejected just fine.
