870 newb needs guidance

Post by Blockhead » Sun Feb 16, 2020 3:09 am

Last year I picked up a couple 870 stripped receivers and after cleaning up some surface rust I'm finally getting around to doing something with one of them. I'd like to make this Express Super Magnum into a utilitarian home defense/truck gun. Problem is that I'm not a shotgun guy, except for some old US military trench and riot guns.

Is there anyplace that sells kits? I checked out Apex, but their sold out of their police turn-in kits. I'm also watching Gunbroker.

I'm also thinking about a pistol grip/ar-type adjustable stock set up with an 18ish barrel. Does anyone have any other ideas? Will any 870 12 gauge parts work for this type of receiver?

You can find stripped parts kits (no receiver, de-mill'ed) here at www.everygunpart.com but look them over carefully. Numrich sells individual parts, but it can make a complete build expensive. Looks like a nice receiver to start with. And welcome aboard!
