Type 5 shell follower

Post by Romulus » Tue Jun 09, 2020 8:36 pm

Hello, I'm hoping someone can tell me if this latest follower type has been tested/will work in an Ithaca 37 since it seems to have similar taper as factory follower...
Thanks in advance

What is wrong with the factory follower?

Nothing
I've upgraded the followers on both my 870s, I've now got the bug to upgrade on the Ithaca...

I seriously doubt that a new plastic or aluminum follower is an upgrade. I have used 37s for years and have NEVER had any issues with the factory steel follower. In my opinion all you are going to pickup by changing the follower is weight, but if you want to swap it, go for it. I do know how it is when you want to do something, i like to tinker with shit also. :D

Your follower is steel? Mine came from factory made of cheap red plastic that makes the Remington factory follower look deluxe. Hence a delrin follower would certainly be an upgrade. My model was made post 87 by Ithaca Aquisition, Ithaca's rebranding after its first bankruptcy, which may explain the cheapness of the part. I'll check with the new Ithaca Gun (4th iteration after third bankruptcy) to see if I can get a metal follower. Thanks,
Rom

All of mine were made before 1980 and all do have steel followers.
