Hello Action. Check out Midway USA. I have a 2004 Remington 870 WingMaster with a 28" vert rib barrel. I also wanted to convert my 870 into an HD shotgun, which I have done and am very pleased with it. I was able to pick up a 20" barrel for my 870 WingMaster at Midway USA. I got it for a pretty decent price and Midway USA treated me right — and again, I'm very pleased with it and I use it for Turkey, Deer and HD. just make sure you get the proper needed chokes for the above mentioned. OK I'll tell you this, you will enjoy that barrel. Remember to have fun.

Are you looking for anything specific in terms of sights or chokes?

Then you shouldn't have much trouble. There are a ton of 18.5" bead-sight barrels with fixed Cylinder or IC chokes, either with the Express matte bluing, or Police bluing or Parkerizing. Any of them will drop right onto your gun and work fine so long as they're 12ga, and are intended for standard receivers with 4-round magazine tubes. They're not too expensive new, and if you don't mind buying used, you can probably get a pretty good deal with a little looking around.

I got a 18.5" fix modified choke that i enjoy (not good to shoot slugs, I like 00buck). My 870 came with a Imp cyl thats is also very nice(ok to shoot slugs). For All around HD id think Impr Cyl probably be your best fit because of versitility.

You might check some of the websites like Botach.com. I picked up an LEO trade in Vang Comp ported 18" barrel with rifle sights for about 1/2 of what it would cost new.
