I picked this up the other day. Found it used and got a descent price on it. Been wanting another 1911 for a while.

Have only been using it for a couple years now.
Put ~10K rounds through this past summer alone. Only problem was a failure to chamber from faulty ammo.

Stippling job, chamfering of the magwell
Polished chamber/feed ramp
Touch of personality and some grip tape to assist in unconventional drills.

Love it, Its my go-to.

What drills/techniques warrant adding grip tape to the top of the slide, Mac?

I've got something new to show off with my Glock 31. My family got together and pitched in for a Lone Wolf 9x19mm conversion barrel and some Glock 17 magazines for my last birthday. I've only put a hundred or so rounds through it so far (life's been busy, and then the starter on my rig crapped out on me), but everything has cycled perfectly, even cheap 115-grain ball. The loaded chamber indicator on the extractor even works with the 9x19 cartridges.

The cheap black finish on the barrel already isn't looking so good, but that's not a huge deal to me. I wanted this barrel primarily because it's blind-marked. The barrel itself is martensitic stainless steel, so if the finish starts looking really bad, I'll just strip it off and polish it.

Being able to shoot 9x19 is great for practice because it's a lot cheaper to shoot than .357 SIG. With prices in my area, I calculate that the conversion barrel and magazines will pay for themselves in around 600 rounds - and a lot less than that with my family helping me out with the initial investment. .357 SIG is also harder to find around here unless I head into the big city, and it's trickier to reload. A .22 LR conversion kit is another good option (and I'll probably get one of those at some point), but I prefer to practice with something that recoils more like my .357 SIG carry ammo. Plus, the 9x19 is a very capable defensive cartridge in its own right, and I'll sometimes have it configured in 9x19 for certain situations. Capacity doesn't really change much, a G31 magazine will hold 16 rounds of .357 SIG, so a G17 mag will only give me one more shot, but I do like having the option to shoot 9x19 when the added penetration of the .357 SIG isn't really needed, and not worth the extra blast and kick.

Hey Sync.

Its primarily used (in my case) for conducting practice in one-handed drills, where I would have to cycle the action without the use of my other hand. Racking the action off my belt rig, heel of boot, or anything else. Alot of folks suggest large beefy sights can help attain the same results, alas, my chosen sights are low profile and don't do that well. Just that small touch of grip tape is a huge improvement and there is absolutely no binding in the holster.

I'm surprised you don't have an AEK trigger on there, the DCAEK kit and the trigger make a fantastic combo

Now that's a Valentine's Day gift I approve of!

What model is that, a 642?
