My favorites are vintage Al Mar, Gerber and Kershaw hunting knives. IMO they were the closest production knives to have custom knife fit and finish. Many of Al Mar's fixed blade hunting blades even had tapered tangs which were found on high end custom knives...a feature the great Bob Loveless really perfected.

I really like folders as hunting blades as well. The vintage Al Mar "Buzzard", "Vulture", "Bulldog I & II" and plain edge "Sportsman" are great blades. The fixed blades "Pack Rat I & II" are sweet skinners as well. All the above have ivory micarta scales, less the "Sportsman" which is a lightweight synthetic with no liner. My EDC is a Al Mar "Lightweight Elite" which I carry in my back right pocket with a custom para cord lanyard.

My favorite Gerbers are the "Folding Sportsman" series in both wood and stag scales. The Gerber "Magnum Folding Hunter" which was designed by Al Mar is a great knife as well.

The Kershaw Model 1050 "Folding Field Knife" is also a favorite.

I use use custom leather sheaths made by Kenny Rowe at Rowe's Leather in Hope, AR for my knives as he is an excellent leather craftsman and very personable with an exemplary reputation.

That's correct. It's an early one I picked up in the early 80's.

Dad's Boy Scout knife made by Western in Colorado.

This "hand-hewn" blade and scabbard was made by a West Virginia mountain man named Tom Read. Mr. Read used to work for the Chessie System, hobbling around the mountains on one leg (he gave the other to the railroad) and gave this to my grandfather in 1976. I have skinned many a small game with this knife. The blade is super thin and flexible and did a good job on rabbits, groundhogs and other woodland creatures.

An assortment of Buck fixed blades.

Two dive knives. I occasionally find myself in the Florida Keys and use these for poking around when in the water. The Beta Tanto is a Titanium blade and feather-light.

Reviving an old thread, and surprised no one else carries a Zero Tolerance. This is the best best pic I have right now, it's kind of hidden, but this by far the best knife i have ever owned.

Here is the knife I carried while in the Army.
It is a BlackJack #5 .... 5 1/2 carbon steel blade and a stacked leather handle.
