Super Mag Trigger Group vs. Standard

Post by LukeNukem » Tue May 09, 2017 7:11 pm

Hey there, fellow 870 lovers. I just bought a used Super Magnum today and after looking the gun over I realized that the safety is reversed. That is, it's setup for a left handed shooter.

My question is, what is the difference between the trigger group on the Super vs. my normal 870 expresses? Could I possibly swap it out with the trigger group from one of my rarely used 12 gauges? I don't think I can get used to the backwards safety and I'd rather not drop $100 on a new trigger group. Any insight is appreciated. Once I get home I'll do some comparing & measuring and see what I come up with.

The SuperMag and standard 12ga trigger plate assemblies are different. I don't know all the details off the top of my head, but as far as I know, they're not interchangeable.

Can you tell how the safety has been reversed? If it's an aftermarket drop-in left-hand button, it's obviously an easy fix; just order a standard (or aftermarket, if you prefer) safety button.
