870 mag spring life

How long does a +2 mag spring last or how often should it be swapped out for new?

Short answer: It lasts almost forever

Cycling a spring... loading and shooting... loading and shooting can fatigue a spring more than simply keeping it loaded.

Most springs are made from quality alloys that are tested and chose for the job.

If a spring ever gets too weak to push the last round from the tube onto the carrier it's time to get a new spring.

It really depends on how often the gun is used. If this is a typical HD gun, its serviceable life will likely be measured in decades. If it's a heavily-used duty or range rental gun that is loaded and unloaded many times every day, it'll probably need to be replaced much sooner. The Remington factory +2s share the same spring with the +3s though, so the spring could lose a fair amount of stiffness, yet still run reliably.

I really wouldn't sweat it too much. Just keep an eye on it, and if loading that first shell feels like it takes next to no effort, it wouldn't hurt to replace the spring. If you use your gun as frequently as most folks do though, it should take a good while for that to happen.
