N.I.B - 1995 870 police magnum value

Post by Seed007 » Sun Jul 26, 2020 2:43 pm

So my question,is I bought this shotgun at what I think was a reasonable price of today’s standard values of the 870-P new off the shelf. Seller didn’t know the worth as well.
I would love to know what the value from somebody in the collecting world of new old stock 870s
I’ve owned it for 6 months an have not fired it. Not sure at this point if it would be a collectors item in the future in the new mint condition that it’s in.
Also the 1995s or just mine did not have a rear sight mount which I’m really missing the idea of not having a rear sight and thought about sending it off and having a professional mount a rear sight base. Would that hurt the value as well because of drilling through the receiver?
I’m not sure if I should keep it original in the box or just buy another 870 to go put some lead downrange.

I’d love to hear what you guys and gals would recommend in this situation . In the meantime I’ll leave it in the safe.

Thanks

That's a pretty cool find. I just paid 505.00 for a very nice 1989 police. that's a pretty inflated number due to all the crap going on. I don't think new in box is that big a draw as these are working guns not collectors. having said that I would pay a little more for NIB, just not a lot more. post some photos. here's mine after I cleaned, and oiled the wood and added a mag extension.

oh, I don't think the older police models had sights, just the bead at the muzzle. mine just has a bead. not really needed at riot gun ranges.
