Please help

Post by stang347lx » Tue Oct 29, 2019 5:14 pm

Can anyone help me to identify this 870 Wingmaster? I've never seen markings like this on the barrel. I have emailed pics to the Remington historian. Just waiting on the reply.

Rem 870 Wingmaster: Barrel- 26 in. MOD., Markings- 56EV60.(???)
Receiver SN: V413071V

Thanks!

An "EV" dated Wingmaster barrel would have been made in October in one of these years: 2028, 2001, 1979. 2028 is kinda non-sensical, but is the next sequence. Those other numbers can be reworked notations or other shop stamps if it has been repaired.

Also, you can go to here: (https://www.remington.com/contact-us) and send the exact serial number to them, and they'll respond in a day or so with better information. The date code on the barrel only tells us when the barrel was made. Handy in a rifle, but on a shotgun the barrels can be swapped (i.e. 870) so the true manufacturing date will be from Remington's serial number database.
