Remington 870 shotguns are used for a variety of purposes such as hunting and home defense. The only problem novices seem to have is choosing the right ammunition to use with their shotgun. If you’re shooting birds, then you probably think of birdshot because the word “bird” is in the name. If you want to hunt deer, then you probably figure slugs are the best. But there is a third option called “buckshot” that is shotshell which can be used for hunting and home defense.
Remington Express Buckshot is #4 buckshot with 27 pellets. It has special Power Pakt buckshot loads which “contain a granulated polyethylene filler material which cushions and protects the shot pellets, reducing shot deformation and improving patterns.”
Recommended for home defense or deer hunting. Recoil is very comfortable.
It is very important to check pattern of your shotgun, especially if you have fixed choke. This is important for home defense and for competition shooting.
If you don’t know the pattern of your shotgun you can hit penalty target during the competition or hit the person you don’t want to hit during home defense. But also, during the test you will find out how do you need to aim on different distances, the longer the distance the less you need to aim using buckshot.
