		<description>Theodore, Thanks for the info I appreciate. The reason I was asked was in case the scope battery goes dead while I&#039;m out I could remove it from the mount and use the rifle sights as a back up.

Yes, the open sight is still functional with the scope removed giving you approx 2mm clearance from the rail mount (with the Remington Saddle Scope Mount in place). I have never tried this before and it actually assists to align gun with target quicker. Nice!! 

I always leave my scope on my saddle &amp; remove the saddle with scope when needed. That way I don’t need to re-zero my sights when refitting. The saddle fit has no tolerance, whereas the scope might move a little (left or right) when re-mounting.
